We’ve all heard the phrase “sometimes life just doesn’t go our way”... Well, that’s total BS!
How about:
“Most of the time, life will kick you in the ass and then turn around and kick dirt over you like the losing Tom in a cat fight.”
The current is dragging us in the wrong direction—and often underwater.
🚣♀️We must DIG
🤜And FIGHT
⛏️And CLAW
Over, under, and through the rough patches. Especially in artistic and business endeavors.
Things will fail, and fail again.
Family will shake their heads.
Eventually, friends will give us up as a lost cause.
“You are only crazy until you succeed—then, you are genius.”
― Kim Chestney
It requires determination and grit to redefine the world around us.
Succeed DESPITE the odds.
Stay focused DESPITE the current outcomes.
Continue blazing a trail DESPITE others telling us we are crazy, a loser, and to just give up.
This is YOU (...this is also ME).
The Barefoot Horse Society has been an idea in my head for years. After COVID, my health and personal life took a long, spiraling, downward turn. While I wanted so badly to get this thing going, I just wasn’t able. There were other priorities.
When there was time, there was no energy. Brought down by fatigue, my body and brain didn’t have the resources to do more than the necessary. Sometimes the necessary is what keeps the bills paid and food in the fridge.
This is not to garner sympathy.
This is to reach out a hand to you so that you know—you can get up again, too.
I’m back on my feet and ready to go!
I invite you along for the ride while you start (or restart) your own.
There will be failures.
There will be setbacks.
Not just sometimes, but often. There will be stretches where things cruise right along. Then monsoons of problems, failures, setbacks, and doubts. You will paddle and dig, only to catch a gasp of air before being sucked under again.
This is everyone, everywhere, all the time.
Pick any successful person and read their story… the real story. Not the “overnight success” tweet.
I know those posts are meant to inspire, but you know what I find truly inspiring?
Knowing that everyone was once down in the shit. That all those clean, shiny, successful people (and businesses) were once smeared with grime, crawling across the finish line. Muscles depleted, kidneys failing, feet on fire.
That is what it is to try… to live.
So, while everyone else is posting memes about how 2025 was a shitshow, I want to encourage you to get back in the fight.
Dust off those dreams.
Down a shot (sugar, caffeine, whisky—whatever you need)
and keep on moving.
The race isn’t over.
Run with me.
If you’re ahead, I’ll stare you down until I catch you.
You should do the same.
